Things to know if you’re considering Invisalign

Invisalign is an excellent treatment for invisibly straightening smiles, using clear plastic aligners to move teeth into the correct positions gradually. If you’re considering this treatment, here are some things you need to know.

Almost anyone can have Invisalign

Provided your teeth are strong and healthy, and you don’t have any loose teeth or gum problems, you are almost certainly suitable for Invisalign. Treatment can take as little as four months to a year or more, depending on the issues requiring correction.

Sometimes braces may be better

Serious orthodontic problems may be better treated with fixed braces so if your teeth are significantly overcrowded or out of alignment, your orthodontist might suggest this option.

The aligners must be removed for eating and drinking

Other than when drinking water, you will need to remove your aligners as otherwise, foods could stain the trays making your teeth look discoloured. Afterwards, you must brush your teeth and clean your aligners before replacing them.

You still need retainers after treatment

After completing any type of orthodontic treatment, you will need to wear retainers. There’s no need to worry as Invisalign retainers are made from precisely the same clear plastic and are very easy to use.
