Dr Jennifer Li

Jennifer started her bachelor of dental medicine training from Xi’an Jiao Tong University in 1996 and was awarded the degree in 2001. She then started orthodontic specialty training the same year and completed a three-year master of orthodontic clinical training in 2004. After half a year of study break and travel in Birmingham, UK, Jennifer proceeded further a Ph.D study with the University of Hong Kong and started her life in Hong Kong from 2005 till 2009. She then moved to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, the Michigan Dental School for 14 months to carry on her research in craniofacial developmental biology and focus on palatogenesis using conditional knock out mice models.
During this period of study and work life, Jennifer passed the Orthodontic specialty exam from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and became an oversea member with the college MDSRCS
(Edin) in 2008. She also published a few research papers related to her scientific research work.
Jennifer moved from Ann Arbor to Sydney Orthodontic Department worked as a lecturer in Orthodontics since 2010 for more than four years, which includes two days of clinical patients care and the rest of the time teaching, research, lecturing and clinical supervision. She then continued with the sleep apnoea study within St George hospital the centre of sleep medicine of University of New South Wales in 2015. Starting from 2016 Jennifer moved back to the university of Hong Kong being appointed as a clinical assistant professor in Orthodontics till 2018. In 2017, Jennifer was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthodontics and became a senior clinician and started seeing private orthodontic patients in Prince Philip Dental Hospital of Hong Kong.
Jennifer returned from Hong Kong to Sydney and completed the required license related submission and exams with New Zealand Dental Council and started working in Auckland, New Zealand since 2020 as a full-time orthodontic specialist.
Apart from working within orthodontic field Jennifer has a wide range of hobbies, including sports, outdoor activities, and she was trained to play Chinese Zither after primary school for 5 years and passed the national exam of band 6 in Guzheng.
Jennifer speaks English, fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
