What is an Orthodontist?

Orthodontists are dentists who have completed an additional 3-year full time specialist doctorate degree at an accredited university which allows them to be registered as a Specialist Orthodontist with the Dental Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

An Orthodontist is a specialist in the diagnosis, prevention, and management of irregularities in the alignment of the teeth and jaws, and has expert knowledge of the latest technologies and techniques available to provide the highest quality treatment. By choosing an orthodontist, you are choosing the most qualified person to achieve the outcome you desire for yourself or your child.

What should I look out for?

There are a number of early signs that your child may need to visit your orthodontist. Some of these include Crowding, Early or late loss of the baby teeth, Finger-sucking or other habits, Poorly aligned teeth, and Facial imbalance or asymmetry.
