Dr Johnathan Grove

Dr Johnathan Grove is the Principal Orthodontist at Bankstown Smile Design. He was born in Geelong, Victoria, and completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Science degree at the University of Western Australia in 2002.
He then went on to work as a Dentist for the next 6 years firstly in Perth, Western Australia, and then Darwin in the Northern Territory. During this time, Johnathan honed his dental skills and explored his interests in aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry. It was also during this time that he realised his passion for Orthodontics with its ability to not only straighten teeth and improve smile aesthetics and facial balance and harmony, but also to positively effect a patient’s self-esteem, confidence, and self-image.
It was this passion and patient satisfaction that led Johnathan to apply for the highly competitive Specialist Orthodontics course run by the University of Sydney. He was subsequently accepted into the course and completed his 3 year full time Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) specialist degree in 2011. He has also qualified as a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS), is a full Member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and the Australian Society of Orthodontists (ASO), and is certified by the Australasian Orthodontic Board (AOB).
During the specialist course, Johnathan worked as a resident orthodontic registrar at Sydney Dental and Westmead Dental Hospitals. Following completion of the course, he then worked as a specialist orthodontist in orthodontic practices in Mona Vale, Neutral Bay, Campbelltown, and Ulladulla.
Towards the end of 2013, Johnathan took over Dr Frank Gregg’s Orthodontic practice in Bankstown, which has now become Bankstown Smile Design.
Dr Grove is interested in and enjoys all aspects of Orthodontics including early management and interceptive treatment, adolescent treatment, adult treatment including aesthetic options, and complex interdisciplinary treatment involving surgery and other specialist treatment. He believes in following an individual customised treatment approach for every patient to create and deliver the beautiful smile and facial harmony they are looking for.
Outside of Orthodontics, Johnathan is a family man spending most of his spare time with his wife and young children. He is also an avid sportsman and when he can, he pursues a range of sports and activities including Snowboarding and Skiing, Surfing, Soccer, Swimming, Scuba Diving, Rock Climbing and Abseiling, Camping, Hiking and Canyoning. He also enjoys travelling and in the quieter moments a good novel.
